How much math does a poker player need to know?

Friday, March 18, 2016 - 11:00am

Poker is a game of imperfect information played by millions of people from all over the world. We will talk about betting and how humans fail to recognize good bets when relying solely on intuition. We will discuss the need of a game theoretical approach and the results of a team of computer scientists from the University of Alberta. Finally we will sketch an analysis of a hand of no limit hold'em poker.
