Math and Stat Awareness Month Lecture

Our Mathematics and Statistics Awareness Month special lecture features Dr. Daniel Zelterman of Yale University. The title of his lecture is An Introduction to Early Stage Clinical Trial Design. This nontechnical lecture starts at 4:00 in the Oliver Hall Auditorium. Please join us at 3:30 in the Oliver Hall lobby for refreshments.

Louisiana ASA student research competition registration form

Please indicate your intention to participate in the competition by completing and submitting this form as soon as possible.

You will need to submit your abstract and summary before the deadline which is midnight on Sunday 2 April 2017.

Mathematics Association Competition Winners

Several of our sutudents and faculty attended the Louisiana Mississippi sectional meeting of the Mathematical Association of America on 16-18 February 2017 at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. Two of our students placed first in student paper/presentation competitions. Alex Fontenot placed first in the undergradute student paper/presentation competition. The title of his talk is Characterizing the Behavior of the Difference Equation x_n+1=(ax_n+b)(mod 1) (Ross Chiquet served as Alex's advisor).

Lloyd Roeling Conference: Applied Mathematics

The Lloyd Roeling UL Lafayette Mathematics Conference is held annually during the fall semester on the UL Lafayette campus. The conference is named in memory of Lloyd Roeling who was instrumental in establishing and nurturing this regional conference. The conference topic for 2016 is applied mathematics.The conference provides an opportunity for researchers and students in applied mathematics and related fields to come together, present their research, and learn from each other.  The conference begins on Friday afternoon and continues through midday Sunday.
