Homotopy theory conference 2017

Daniel Davis helped organize the conference Homotopy theory: tools and applications, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, July 17-21, 2017. This conference was sponsored by National Science Foundation grant DMS-1719242, as well as the UIUC Department of Mathematics.

This week-long, international conference was designed to provide a platform for building on recent developments in homotopy theory, especially its growth in the Midwest. The aim of the conference was to survey recent advances in the fundamental tools of homotopy theory (including abstract homotopy theory, equivariant homotopy, obstruction-theoretic methods), to highlight future directions of research, including applications to chromatic homotopy theory, motivic homotopy theory, and derived algebraic geometry.

The conference was a great success with approximately 160 participants. The organizers and grant co-principal investigators are: Principal Investigator Vesna Stojanoska (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), and Co-Principal Investigators: Charles Rezk (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), Daniel Davis (UL Lafayette), and Mark Johnson (Penn State Altoona).
