Instructor of mathematics

Position

Non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor of Mathematics.

Responsibilities

Duties will include teaching a full teaching load of undergraduate mathematics and/or statistics courses and engaging in departmental and university service. Research, scholarship, and mentoring of undergraduate research are strongly encouraged.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Master's or Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics by August 20, 2023 and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Priority will be given to individuals with demonstrated excellence in teaching at the university level.

Applicants must be committed to working effectively with diverse student populations. Applicants are expected to include a description of their commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment through their research, teaching, and/or service activities.

The University

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the largest member of the University of Louisiana System, is a public institution of higher education offering bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees. UL Lafayette is one of the two public universities in Louisiana to be designated as a Carnegie Research University with Very High Research activity (R1). Located mid-way between New Orleans and Houston, Lafayette is the heart of Louisiana’s Acadian-Creole region. The city of 120,000 is one of Louisiana’s fastest growing and is the hub of numerous cultural festivals and celebrations.

The College

The Ray P. Authement College of Sciences consists of academic departments in the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics, a School of Geosciences and a School of Computing and Informatics.

The Department

The Department of Mathematics is one of the largest academic units on the campus. Course offerings range from developmental work in mathematics for freshmen to advanced graduate level courses for doctoral students.
