Ways to Earn Course Credit
The normal method of obtaining course credit is by successful completion of the course at UL Lafayette. The registrar may also assign transfer credit for courses taken at other colleges and universities. Some other ways to earn course credit are described below.
Credit Based on a CEEB AP Exam Score

Precalculus Exam:
- AP Precalculus Exam score of 3, 4, or 5: Credit for math 109 and math 110

Calculus AB exam:
- Calculus AB exam score of 1, 2: no course credit
- Calculus AB exam score of 3: credit for math 109, math 110, and math 250
- Calculus AB exam score of 4 or 5: credit for math 109, math 110, and math 270

Calculus BC exam:
- Calculus BC exam score of 1 or 2: no course credit
- Calculus BC exam score of 3: credit for math 109, math 110, and math 270
- Calculus BC exam score of 4 or 5: credit for math 109, math 110, math 270, and math 301

Statistics exam:
- Statistics exam score of 1,2: no course credit
- Statistics exam score of 3, 4, or 5: credit for stat 214
Credit Based on an ACT Mathematics Score
- ACT math score of 24 or less: no course credit
- ACT math score of 25, 26, or 27: credit for math 105
- ACT math score of 28 or 29: credit for math 109
- ACT math score of 30 or more: credit for math 109 and math 110
Credit Based on a College Board CLEP Score
- College Mathematics Exam score of 50 or higher: credit for math 102
- College Algebra Exam score of 50 or higher: credit for math 105
- Precalculus Exam score of 50: credit for math 143
- Calculus Exam score of 60 or higher: The math department will review your score and transcripts to determine credit. (A score of 60 or higher on this exam does not guarantee credit.)
Credit Based on the Advance Credit Exam
If you have an ACT mathematics score of 26 or higher or an ALEKS PPL score of 61 or higher and have never taken a collegiate math course, then you may take the Advance Credit Exam to receive course credit for math 109 and/or math 110. This one and one-half hour exam covers pre-calculus algebra and trigonometry.
